A filmmaker must be confident. Try not to take yourself too seriously, though! And remember . . . film making is a team sport.
The past three months have shown me that I am, in fact, a professional, seasoned Indie Filmmaker. And I am fortunate to be surrounded with role models who are willing to share their experience with me and offer advice along the way. An added benefit of being part of this community is being accepted into an extended creative family.
Filmmakers are fabulous!

Lorraine Montez, owner of Abundant Productions took our concepts to L.A. and pitched them to a group of producers at the AFMC.
One of the L.A. producers showed some interest in our dramatic concept and now we are working on writing several episodes. It feels like a dream!
I also worked on the 48 Hour Horror Film Project, as a Writer, Producer, and 1st AD . . . with Ms. Montez. (I would follow her anywhere!)
Our 48 Hour Horror Film won four awards! 1st Runner Up, Best Score, Best Effects and Best use of Prop. This experience was significant for me, because it is really where I felt the skills that I've been honing come together. It takes serious teamwork, organization and follow through to even complete this project. It thrills and amazes me that we did it so well. Like I said though, it is an entire team that makes these things happen.
Our editor wants to sweeten a few tid-bits, then It'll be online for your viewing pleasure.
As a wrap to the three months, I had the fortunate experience to work with Hank Isaac, an award winning writer/director, and a mentor who I plan to continue to work with lots more in the future.
We started planning in September, to make a sci-fi time travel film that was to be set in the forest in Shoreline . . . in mid-November.
Well, once we realized that the weather was going to be too much to deal with, Hank re-wrote the script in record time and moved the location indoors to the Georgetown Steam Plant.
Flexibility is KEY to being happy working in this industry.
Making the move was the exact right thing to do, even though it meant most of our planning for the previous month and a half went out the door.
The script was even better, the location more exciting. The cast and crew made the transition without a hiccup. Some things are just meant to be.
Stay tuned as the adventure continues. And if you need a Producer, 1st AD or . . . (just ask) . . . consider hiring me for your next project!
