Scenic Painting: AVE Q
This weekend's adventure is going to be busting out some serious scenic painting for the Ave Q set. I'm excited to get started. Here's a look at what we'll be painting!
On the left is the set before it was base coated. Below is the set after base coat. Now the fun begins. We'll be creating brownstone, a rolling metal warehouse door, Window treatments and all kinds of fun details.
This kind of experience comes in handy for Indie Filmmaking too. Because, you know, we create the worlds the characters live in.
Theater has a feeling so much different from film. Live performances leave the audience with a more empathetic feeling. Anyone who grew up with Sesame Street is going to get a kick out of this subverted version.
Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q, but the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancée Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod, a Republican investment banker; an internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
It's an explosion of energy, music, and puppets - and definitely for grown-ups! This musical contains strong language, adult content, and puppet sex and is recommended for mature (15 years and older) audiences.
