Finding Inspiration
Inspiration can be an elusive friend. When you reconnect, it's as if she were always there. The muse waits in the dark, behind the curtain of your subconscious mind. Then suddenly one morning you find yourself waking to a burst of insight and she's back. It's something that I noticed about myself a long time ago. I can't force my creativity. I can continue to paint or draw, write or design, but what makes the work interesting is the creativity of the piece. To me this happens when there is a free roadway between the conscious and the subconscious. The ease at which work flows when there seems to be an effortless connection between the brush, my hand and whatever it is that is leading us down the path. When this spark happens, it's the most amazing awe inspiring feeling. It's been like that lately. I think it's because I've surrounded myself with creative people. I don't spend enough time with people other than my family outside of scheduled social events or work. Now I'm adding school to the mix, which is pretty funny considering my age. My daughter is heading off to grad school and I am aspiring toward my AA. I am inspired by my amazing daughter, who decided when she was 12 years old to become a "person who helps people that are sad", got her BA in Psychology AND English and is heading off now to work on the next step in attaining her dream to become a Psychologist. So, I find the idea of going back to school, meeting new people and broadening my horizons to be extremely inspiring. I think that with the many years of experience that I have as working artist, marketing, promotions, event planning, customer service etc. that getting the paperwork will be the icing on the cake.
